Get ready for a wild, darkly comedic ride next Halloween season as Angelwood Pictures is conjuring up a brand-new series for Tubi, just in time for October 2026.
“Death Deferred” is the latest ghoulish offering from the indie powerhouse studio, bringing a unique twist to life, death, and what it means to be part of a brotherhood.
“Death Deferred” centers on an overworked and burned-out Grim Reaper assigned to reap in the New England region, who decides to take an unsanctioned break from his eternal duties after a particularly disastrous frat house accident.
The 7-minute short pilot, which has already been filmed, has been met with a positive response and will face a limited festival run soon for more feedback.
With unexpected downtime on his scythe, Grim moves in with a crew of nearly-dead fraternity brothers, slyly turning their home into his headquarters. What unfolds is a chaotic collision of afterlife bureaucracy, existential dread, and (you guessed it) epic fraternity shenanigans, forcing everyone to question the true meaning of “brotherhood” as they teeter on the edge of life and death.

The series is the brainchild of Seth Chitwood, who not only created and directed the recently completed 7-minute test pilot but also serves as a producer alongside Mike Pratt. Joining them are collaborators from Tulip & Stone Media, with executive producer Mark Anthony Hardy lending his expertise to the project.
Cinematography for the test pilot was helmed by Dan Goldsmith, who will continue as director of photography for the series.
Actor Mike Pratt will step into the role of Grim, the world’s most unconventional reaper. He’ll be joined on screen by Aidan Hupper and Brennan Fromm, with more casting news expected as the production gears up.
With its fresh premise and energetic cast, Death Deferred promises to delight audiences looking for something offbeat on Tubi’s 2026 schedule.
The first season of Death Deferred is slated to begin filming in January 2026, giving fans plenty of time to speculate about the supernatural escapades to come.
Angelwood Pictures has already wowed audiences with its inventive storytelling, and this new series looks set to expand their reputation for bold, entertaining content.
Stay tuned for more casting announcements, behind-the-scenes sneak peeks, and get ready to ask yourself: What would you do if Death decided to crash at your place for a while?
